The Johannesburg Garden Club was established in 1951 by 30 amateur gardeners, with a social conscience. It is one of the few garden clubs established with a twofold objective written into its constitution. Members aim to increase, share and enjoy their gardening knowledge, and in so doing, raise funds for the Johannesburg Child Welfare Society.

Our aim is to continue to carry out the motto of the club:

We pass this way but once
Let us beautify the path as we go
So that they may see which way we went.”
